Product
The Search Engine arrives as two easy to install components, an ASP script, and a separate .exe program that will spider your intranet and save the results into a database for the script to read. The search results will consist of a hyperlink based on the text between the title tags, and under this will be a short extract that includes (in bold) the search word found in the web page. The search engine will look for word matches within the entire document. It also generates a log file in simple text format that details all the searches. This is a useful method of finding out what people really want from your web site / Intranet site. The demo version will index fifty pages. The full version has no limit, other than that defined by the size of the generated database.
The spider components are shown below and consists of two parts. The top image shows the status of the engine, with information such as when it will next spider the site and the selected path of the Intranet. Options to spider (or not) keyword meta tags, description meta tags, title tags and a href links along with the option to spider the entire page are available while the other image shows the control section. This allows you to create a list of pages that you do not want to have spidered. The path and exclusion list is saved when the program is closed down. The exclusion list is automatically loaded when the spider is started, and is saved into the selected directory.
