ORANGEVALLEY INTRANET SEARCH ENGINE
For a Windows 95/98//2000/NT LAN

Software Upgrades
From time to time new software versions or upgrades are released. These changes will be shown here.

7th August 2003
A slight change to the script database connection string has been added. This should prevent any strange problems such as only being able to search once, then having to wait a few minutes before being able to search again, or no search results being returned even if the database has been populated. This version is not bundled with the downloads, so ideally you should download it and disregard the bundled .asp file

4th March 2003
A couple of features added. The first one is an option to only spider any new content on the web site. The spider checks the file date and time with that held in the database and that of the file. If it detects that a new file has been added or that an existing file has altered, it will respider these pages. The existing pages won't be respidered, offering a considerable speed advantage.

The other change is that the spider no longer creates the database each time it respiders. This could cause problems as sometimes the spided failed to produce a database. An empty database is now supplied which the spider will have access to.

31st March 2002
A new version of the search script is now available. The search itself has not altered, only the way that the search results are displayed. This latest version shows numbers down the side of the search results, and in addition at the bottom of the search results page there are links for Previous and Next results. It also shows the page search number EG

537 records have been searched. There are 28 matches from your search query. Results: 1 to 10 shown.

The script is the same for both registered and unregistered versions of the search engine.

The above script has the same name as the existing script, so simply backup your old script incase you need to reuse it, and place the new script in it's place.

Please note that this script forms part of the search engine. The script is used in conjunction with the spider, and therefore won't do anything on it's own.
